From NOAI to the World Stage
IOAI is the International Science Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence for high school students. In addition to the annual global competition week with accompanying academic and social programs, IOAI has under its umbrella Regional OAIs.
The National Olympiad in AI (NOAI) serves as Singapore’s official pathway to IOAI. Outstanding participants are selected through NOAI to represent Singapore at the annual IOAI, where they compete on the international stage, showcase their AI knowledge and problem-solving abilities, and gain valuable exposure to cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence alongside peers from across the globe.

The 3rd International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 2–8 August 2026.
Two teams of students from Singapore have won two gold medals and five Silver Medal at the International AI Olympiad (IOAI), held in the city of Beijing, China.
Two teams of students from Singapore have won gold medals at the inaugural International AI Olympiad (IOAI), held in the city of Burgas, Bulgaria, from 9 to 15 August this year.
Participants were tested on their AI expertise in a Scientific Round, which emphasised problem-solving skills highly sought after in scientific research. This year’s focus was on Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning, and Computer Vision, using real-world datasets.
Following the Scientific Round, participants competed in a hands-on Practical Round, which involved generating image and video productions using AI tools. Both Singapore teams excelled, winning two of the four available gold medals in the Scientific Round, outperforming over 40 teams from around the world in the Olympiad.
